Mayor T.W. Permenter As the Mayor for the citizens and the City of The continual growth of our city, along with a rising business and population growth, will remain a very retainable and worthwhile goal for me. As an individual voted into office by the citizens of Pinehurst, I will to the best of my ability, continue to serve the citizens of Pinehurst. My motto being “KEEP PINEHURST PROUD.” The City of Pinehurst was incorporated as a city on November 19, 1955. The name Pinehurst was chosen as the title for the city due to the support provided for the incorporation and formation of the city by Mr. Edgar Brown, Jr. who owned Pinehurst Ranch located at the west side of the then proposed city and the many large pine trees growing in this area. At the time of incorporation, the city consisted of slightly over six hundred inhabitants and several small businesses. The population of the city grew slowly throughout the years to 2,270 inhabitants per the 2000 census and the number of businesses increased dramatically along the major thoroughfares, MacArthur Drive and Strickland Drive. The City of Pinehurst is a quiet, serene city with excellent full services provided to its residents. The friendly people of the City of Pinehurst invite visitors and newcomers alike to their city graciously and with pride. The city is located south of IH-10, west of Highway 87 with Old Highway 90 through its center and west of the City of Orange, Texas and 2 ˝ miles from the State of Louisiana’s western border. |
